I used to be excited when Season 3 of Battlestar Galactica’s launched the idea of the Closing 5, whispered right here and there by the Cylons, as a sort of Shadow Council watching from behind the scenes, ready to make themselves identified. In any case, “that they had a plan,” which, as we came upon later, was a lie, Ronald D. Moore admitted there was no plan, there was no grand design, and the reveal of the Closing 5 made that very clear.
The 5 have been revealed to be Saul Tigh, Galen Tyrol, Samuel Anders, Tory Foster, and the final of them, Ellen Sigh. For anybody who had been watching from the start, it contradicted plenty of proof and, within the case of Tigh, amounted to character assassination.
