Judas Priest has introduced a very remixed and remastered model of their 1974 debut album Rocka Rolla. The brand new model was finished by longtime Judas Priest collaborator Tom Allom, who stated the aim of Rocka Rolla 2024 was to solely improve what already exists.
“What we did with the multitracks is sort of uncommon, to utterly remix an album from that period, from scratch. So to make clear what we’re doing, we’re not including something musically. We’re not re-recording any of the musical components… We’re remixing them, rebalancing them utilizing the know-how we have now, the fashionable instruments we have now now, to sonically improve them, and make them sound extra highly effective.”
So why remix and remaster Rocka Rolla in 2024? Simple – as a result of the unique combine and grasp form of sucked.
“I took the report… and I put the needle onto the groove and I sat again. And I simply slowly began to deflate, deflate.” stated Judas Priest vocalist Rob Halford upon listening to the unique Rocka Rolla for the primary time.
“I used to be so upset with the way in which it was sounding… All of us had been – we might all labored so arduous to get to this place. And now this music that we all know once we play reside is roaring – the heavy steel is roaring even in these early primitive days – none of that was popping out of the audio system”
Judas Priest bassist Ian Hill added: “Recorded throughout nighttime periods to save lots of prices, over a number of weeks in June and July 1974, on a shoestring funds, Rocka Rolla was at all times going to have its flaws! However strolling into my native report retailer and seeing it on a shelf amongst all of your idol’s data was the proudest feeling on this planet, and I assumed, ‘No matter occurs now, nothing can change that!’
“Now re-mixed by Tom Allom and re-mastered, Rocka Rolla has lastly received the manufacturing it deserved!”
