The island was conceptualized because the final line of protection between Earth and the netherworld. The Misplaced authentic ending would have constructed more and more violent seismic exercise till the volcano erupted, making a smoke monster, streams of magma, and bursts of ash. The ending was supposed to happen contained in the volcano, with molten lava flowing, because the conflict between good and evil unfolded. This confrontation might need been extra satisfying to some audiences who deemed the present ending complicated.
