In a latest interview with Loudwire Nights, System Of A Down bassist Shavo Odadjian shared that he’s open to the thought of recording new music with the band.
It has been virtually 20 years since SOAD launched a full-length album. The bassist thinks it’s a disgrace that the band doesn’t make any music now.
“It’s a f*cking disgrace that [new music from the band is] not taking place, as a result of we are able to accomplish that a lot,” he defined. “Look, we went in, we did two songs 4 years in the past. How they sound, man. I imply, that could possibly be an album of that sh*t. And we are able to even write crazier songs. That was fast. Daron introduced a number of of these in — growth, growth, growth — and the track was completed; it was, like, two days.”
The final albums they put out have been ‘Hypnotize’ and ‘Mezmerize,’ each launched in 2005. After that, they took a break till 2011, once they obtained again collectively for some European festivals. They’ve toured often since then, however by way of new music, they’ve solely dropped two singles: ‘Shield the Land’ and ‘Genocidal Humanoidz’ in 2020.
“We haven’t been making new music,” Tankian mentioned in a special interview. “We solely put out two songs when the invasion of Artsakh, Nagorno Karabakh occurred in 2020 by Azerbaijan, as a result of we felt just like the Azeri trolls, the government-sponsored trolls have been taking up social media and the information networks, and the victims of those assaults weren’t getting the phrase out. So we grew to become type of obsessive about getting the phrase out, as a result of we have been seeing our individuals endure. So we put out these two songs due to that and we donated a whole lot of the proceeds for that to the trigger as properly.”
The members of System Of A Down have been busy with their very own initiatives currently. In August, Shavo Odadjian introduced his new band, Seven Hours After Violet, and they’ll drop their first self-titled album on October 11.
