The true-life story of Nasir Shaikh, an beginner filmmaker from the small city of Malegaon in India who realized his Bollywood dream, is launched within the trailer for Superboys of Malegaon, which dropped on Friday.
In Superboys of Malegaon, smalltown locals look to Bollywood cinema for escape, and Nasir pitches his pals on making a no-budget movie about folks of their lives.
A Sept. 13 gala world premiere on the Toronto Movie Competition shall be adopted by a Jan. 2025 theatrical launch within the U.S. and India for the Amazon MGM Studios comedy.
“, there’s a lot disappointment in Malegaon. All of us want comedy and a few laughter in life,” Shaikh, performed by The White Tiger star Adarsh Gourav, tells his skeptical pals at one level within the uplifting teaser. Director Reema Kagti’s heartfelt comedy then portrays what occurs when filmmaking and friendship in a small city in India collides, when Shaikh makes a campy ode to small city India that turns into successful with regional audiences.
