Being a significant touring band over the course of 20 years means having nice recollections of some bands, and not-so-great ones of others. In a latest interview with Q101, Papa Roach vocalist Jacoby Shaddix and guitarist Jerry Horton mentioned they’d one of the best recollections of touring with Korn proper after Warped Tour in 2000.
“I’d say the Korn tour,” mentioned Horton. “‘Trigger we have been younger. We did Warped Tour in 2000, after which proper after that we did Korn. They usually us beneath their wing. They have been, like, ‘Grasshopper, we’ll present you find out how to do it.’ They usually handled us nice, and so they set the bar for the way we handled bands after we took them out.”
Shaddix added: “They have been simply, like, ‘Flip up as loud as you need. You need to use the stage nonetheless you need. Simply rise up there and throw down.’ And like some bands aren’t like that. They wanna squash your sound. They wanna, ‘Oh, you possibly can’t use this a part of the stage.'”
Then there was one of many not-so-good excursions. Shaddix recalled some confrontation with Mötley Crüe vocalist Vince Neil and bassist Nikki Sixx over the utilization of Crüe‘s stage wings, saying they have been rattling close to booted off the tour due to it. Nonetheless, Shaddix mentioned he is a fan of the Mötley Crüe guys and even carried out backup vocals on Crüe‘s 2008 monitor “Saints Of Los Angeles”.
“I am going to let you know proper now. We did a tour with Mötley Crüe. They usually had these wings. It was ‘Crüe Fest’. It was sick, dude. And I had befriended the blokes within the band. And I did not know Vince very nicely. And there have been these wings out on the aspect, and so they have been, like… The stage supervisor comes over and he goes, ‘You may’t use the wings.’ I am, like, ‘Do not inform me [not] to do it, ‘trigger I’ll.’
“So I am on the market on the wing doing my factor. And it is, like, midway via the tour, and I proceed to not hear. And I am getting calls from administration and this and that. And we get off and we’re in — it was in Ohio someplace. And I keep in mind getting off stage I am all sweaty. I am strolling again to the bus. And also you by no means see Vince and Nikki collectively on tour. And these two dudes are strolling aspect by aspect, and so they cease and so they’re, like, ‘Hey, how’d the present go?’ And I used to be, like, ‘Oh, it was banging, dude. What’s up?’
“Vince appears to be like at me, and he goes, ‘, subsequent time you stroll out on that wing over there, you possibly can simply stroll proper off this tour.’ And I did not skip a beat, and I simply checked out him. I mentioned, ‘So there’s a fucking method off this tour.’ I simply walked away. And I am, like, ‘Man…’ I really like the dudes in Mötley Crüe, but it surely was, like, ‘How are you gonna attempt to inform someone to stay by guidelines? You are fucking Mötley Crüe. Give me a break.’ Like, nah, dude. You may’t. Nah, it is, like, it simply do not work.”
